Características:
Aquacel Extra, apósito de Hydrofiber® con fibra reforzante, es un apósito, blanco, estéril, blando, en forma de almohadilla, no tejido, compuesto por hidrofibras de hidrocoloide (carboximetilcelulosa sódica) y fibras de celulosa regenerada para reforzar. Este apósito adaptable y muy absorbente, absorbe el exudado de la herida transformándolo en un gel suave, que mantiene un medio húmedo para facilitar el proceso de cicatrización y la retirada de los tejidos necróticos de la herida (desbridamiento autolítico) sin dañar el tejido neoformado.
Por el diseño de sus fibras, el apósito Aquacel Extra potencia la absorción en sentido vertical a la lesió n, controlando o limitando la expansión lateral de los fluidos. La combinación de ambas características hace que, el apósito en contacto con el exudado forme un gel cohesivo, evitando o minimizando el riesgo de maceración de la piel perilesional.
Al objeto de prevenir la rotura del apósito cuando se retira de la herida, Aquacel Extra, apósito de Hydrofiber con fibra reforzada lleva incorpodara una estructura de hilos entrelazados de celulosa regenerada para aumentar su resistencia.
El apósito puede permanecer en la lesión hasta siete días; sin embargo, cuando se utiliza en lesiones altamente exudativas o por otras razones clínicas, el apósito puede tener que cambiarse con mayor frecuencia.
El producto viene envasado de forma unitaria en bolsas tipo “chevron” hermé ticamente cerradas que se esterilizan por medio de rayos gamma irradiados con Cobalto 60 a una dosis mínima de 25 kGy (2,5 Mrad).

Sanitario.
Indicaciones:
Aquacel Extra, apósito de Hydrofiber con fibra reforzante puede ser utilizado para el tratamiento de:
Úlceras vasculares, úlceras por presión (estadio II-IV) y úlceras diabéticas.
Heridas quirúrgicas (por Ej. heridas post-operatorias que cicatrizan por segunda intención y zonas donantes.
Quemaduras de espesor parcial.
Heridas traumáticas (por Ej. Abrasiones y laceraciones).
Absorción de exudado en heridas oncológicas (por Ej. Tumores cutáneos, fúngicos, metástasis cutánea y sarcoma de Kaposi).
Composición:
El apósito Aquacel Extra esta compuesto por dos capas no tejidas de fibras de carboximetilcelulosa sódica. La densidad de cada una de las capas es de 70 g/m² y está n cosidas de izquierda a derecha, en su parte interior, por un entrelazado de hilo s compuestos por fibras de celulosa regenerada. A su vez la parte externa de las dos capas presentan el mismo entrelazado pero dispuesto de forma longitudinal.
Así pues, el apósito Aquacel Extra incorpora una fibra reforzante de celulosa regenerada, que forma una estructura de hilos entrelazados dentro del apósito, que aporta al apósito resistecia a la rotura durante su uso y en el momento de su retirada.
La estructura de doble capa de este apósito aporta una grana capacidad de absorción al mismo.
Cumple las normas:
Marca CE, de acuerdo con la Directiva Comunitaria 93/42/CEE que regula los productos sanitarios en el ámbito europeo.
Precauciones:
Aquacel Extra, apòsito de Hidrofyber con fibra reforzante no debe ser utilizado en individuos que sean sensibles o hayan tenido una reacción alérgica al apósito o a sus componentes.
